Former Syracuse running back Smith signs with Atlanta Falcons as undrafted free agent; cornerback Lyn signs with Colts

Former Syracuse running back Jerome Smith signed with the Atlanta Falcons after he went undrafted in the 2014 NFL Draft, he confirmed in a tweet. Former cornerback Keon Lyn also went undrafted, but signed with the Indianapolis Colts, he posted on Twitter.

It’s not how you got there….. It’s what you do when your there! Officially a Colt!!!!!!!!!,” Lyn tweeted.

The Falcons added Smith after selecting former SU linebacker Marquis Spruill in the fifth round of the draft.

“I guess me and @Sprui11z teammates again … #bloodbrothers #cuse #atl,” Smith tweeted.

Smith led the Orange with 914 rushing yards and 12 rushing touchdowns last season. He also had 74 receiving yards and one receiving touchdown. After running a 4.84-second 40-yard dash at the NFL Scouting Combine in February, Smith said he improved his time by almost three-tenths of a second at SU’s Pro Day on March 26.

Former SU defensive tackle Jay Bromley was taken by the New York Giants in the third round.
