Former Syracuse safety Wilkes reportedly joins Jacksonville Jaguars as undrafted free agent

Former Syracuse safety Jeremi Wilkes will join the Jacksonville Jaguars as an undrafted free agent, the Post-Standard reported Tuesday.

“Jaguars baby!” Wilkes tweeted Monday evening.

Wilkes played in all 13 games for the Orange this past season, recording 36 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss and one interception as a starting safety.

He is the fourth former SU football player to find a team after going undrafted, joining running back Jerome Smith (Atlanta Falcons), cornerback Keon Lyn (Indianapolis Colts) and cornerback Ri’Shard Anderson (Tennessee Titans).

Former Orange defensive tackle Jay Bromley was selected by the New York Giants in the third round and linebacker Marquis Spruill went to the Atlanta Falcons in the fifth round.

Center Macky MacPherson and tight end Beckett Wales, two notable former SU players, have yet to find teams through free agency.
