Syracuse receives votes in initial NSCAA poll, ranks 38th in nation

After finishing 10-7-1 in 2013, Syracuse received votes in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America/Continental Tire Preseason Poll. Its eight votes are tied with Northwestern and rank the team 38th in the nation.

Eight Atlantic Coast Conference schools also received votes, including top-ranked Notre Dame, No. 3 Virginia, No. 11 Wake Forest, No. 14 Louisville and No. 22 North Carolina. Clemson and Duke also received votes but, like the Orange, were not ranked.
Syracuse will open its exhibition season August 16 against Hartwick with 12 of the players that started at least half of its matches last season. SU opens the regular season on August 29 at home against Niagara.
