Syracuse, Villanova to meet in Philadelphia on Dec. 20

Syracuse and Villanova will wrap up a two-year home-and-home series in Philadelphia on Dec. 20, SU Athletics announced in a release Friday morning.

The game will be played at the Philadelphia 76ers’ Wells Fargo Center, and will be the 72nd meeting between the two teams. SU was an original member of the Big East for the 1979–80 campaign, and the Wildcats joined in the second year of the conference — and all but five of the 71 matchups have been as Big East foes. The Orange owns a 39-32 advantage in the all-time series.

One of those five nonconference meetings came last season, with Syracuse beating Villanova 76-62 in the Carrier Dome. The Wildcats finished the season 29-5, losing to eventual NCAA Tournament champion Connecticut in the second round.
