Hickey, Lynch earn 3rd-team All-ACC honors from coaches

Syracuse seniors Sean Hickey and Cameron Lynch earned third-team All-Atlantic Coast Conference honors from the league’s coaches. The results were announced Wednesday morning.

Hickey, SU’s left tackle and a team captain who accepted an invite Tuesday to the East-West Shrine all-star game, ended his Orange career with a streak of 38 consecutive games started. He was the only Syracuse offensive lineman to start in all 12 games this season.

Lynch, an outside linebacker and also a team captain, topped the Orange with his career-high 97 tackles, 12 tackles for loss and seven sacks on the season. He led SU in tackling in seven of its 12 games.

No other Syracuse players earned recognition from the ACC. A year ago, five SU players did.

The Orange (3-9, 1-7 ACC) tied for last with Wake Forest in the league’s Atlantic Division and ended the year with a five-game losing streak. Aside from SU, WFU and Virginia, the other 11 ACC programs all qualified for bowl games.
