Student reports strong-arm robbery attempt near Euclid, Ackerman

An attempted strong-arm robbery happened on Thursday at approximately 12:30 p.m. near the intersection of Euclid and Ackerman avenues, according to a Department of Public Safety Notice.

A student reported that she was walking west on Euclid Avenue when a man, walking east, approached her. The suspect tried to forcibly take the victim’s cellphone from her right hand, but the victim maintained control of her phone and a struggle between the two ensued, according to DPS.

The suspect pushed the victim into a snow bank and fled the scene on foot traveling east, away from the Syracuse University campus, according to DPS. The victim did not sustain any injuries and the suspect presented no threat of a weapon.
