Syracuse women’s lacrosse is ranked No. 4 in the nation in Inside Lacrosse’s Face-Off Yearbook preseason Top 20, which was released Tuesday.

Maryland earned the top spot, and North Carolina and Florida took second and third, respectively.

Six of the Top-10 teams are from the Atlantic Coast Conference. Virginia, Duke and Boston College were ranked fifth, sixth and seventh, respectively, and Notre Dame received the ninth spot. Louisville was ranked No. 16 and Virginia Tech was the only ACC team not ranked.

Nine of the top-20 teams have Syracuse on their schedules, though SU Athletics hasn’t released the Orange’s schedule. Maryland and Florida will host SU on March 7 and 10, respectively.

The Orange finished 21-3 (6-1 ACC) last season, but fell to Maryland in the national championship game, 15-12. All three of SU’s losses were to the Terrapins.

SU ended the year ranked No. 2 in the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association poll, behind UMD.
