Euclid house fire sends three to hospital

Abstract:
A fire started on the front porch of the second floor of 742 Euclid Ave. at approximately 3 a.m. Wednesday, as seven students slept in the house.

Four people on the first floor and three people on the second floor had been sleeping when the fire started and spread through the second floor and attic....

I don't know the circumstances here but it seems to me based on my own observations that the lack of up to any reasonable code status of off campus housing in the Euclid area is a scandal waiting for a tragedy. Are houses subject to annual inspection? If not, why not. This is an issue for our fearless Chancellor to consider getting behind instead of playing with mascots, colors and names. Off campus housing is a proxy for the dorms and should not be under the radar. I hope I'm wrong.
