McCain's VP pick: hit and miss

Abstract:
Sen. John McCain's vice president pick seems like a bit of a shock and awe campaign: A relatively unknown governor from Alaska whose past policies and stances are now in the forefront of the Republican campaign. When it comes to conservative, hockey-mom Gov....

I think same-sex marriage is OK. Same-sex couples are just as committed in their romantic relationships as heterosexual couples, say researchers who have studied the quality of adult relationships and healthy development. I have a friend getting married with the same sex under the help of the site **BiLoves dotcom**. And they live happily and wonderfully.

I dont see how you think Obama will fix Washington. In Chicago he sat back and did nothing to change one a corrupt government with more mafia influence than an episode of the sopranos.
And why would someone who is all about change pick a good ole boy from Delaware as his running mate? He is the embodiment of the old circle-jerk democratic party Obama wanted to distance himself from.
McCain was ahead in several polls this morning. The only thing that we have seen "wear off" is the luster of Obama's speeches, but that is understandable considering his policies change in each one.

I've been a human resources recruiter for more than 30 years and have seen my share of eloquent entry level candidates. Sarah Palin is one of them. In the end, experience has always won the day. Sorry.

Now you will say the same thing when it comes to the real race between McCain and Obama. McCain does have more experience than Obama. He has been around government for almost 30 of his 72 years on earth. He has a track record we can study. The track record is muddled, though. He is a war hero and suffered greatly at the hands of his captors. This is worthy of respect, but unless we expect our next president to hold up well under media interrogation, this does not qualify him for the job.

At times, McCain has been a maverick in his party. Unfortunately, it hasn't made much of a diference, since we went to and stayed in Iraq and American's are far less better off than they were 8 years ago.

Now, McCain promises change. People in careers for over 30 years don't change very much. They don't begin fighting special interest groups after years of working closely with them and having their leaders head their presidential campaigns. Old dogs don't change.

Obama is also inexperienced in politics, too. But, his experience is less jaded than McCain's and more big picture than Palin's. And, he has Joe Bidun on his team - probably the closest thing to real deal among all four candidates. And, I'm not saying this because he got his Law Degree from SU!

We can't afford to go with iniexperience in this election - true. But, we can't hire the wrong experience, either. The GOP doesn't deserve to win in 2008, no matter who their candidate may be. The lesser of two evil choice that we made four years ago, choosing Bush's experience versus Kerry's lackluster didn't cut it. Instead of four more years of experience, we put the icing on 8 years of failed leadership. The cumulative effect President Bush's two terms is what killed us.

Obama is the right choice, because this is one time we have to throw the baby out with the bathwater.

If Sarah Palin is trult a rising star in the Republican party, she'll have four more years to prove it. If she's not, Simon Cowell will have that extra time to develop a reality show to pick the next two VP candidates in America. Now, that would really be a grassroots candidate. Couldn't be any worse than picking the Governor of a 700,000 person state, who was may of a town smaller than Cortland, NY.

You focus on the social issues, but neglect to talk about the economic impact of an Obama administration. He's been trying to divide the country by playing up and encouraging class envy. It's very easy to say we're going to only raise taxes for 5%, but increasing the overall tax burden while initiating catastrophic spending plans like nationalized healthcare will send a final death knell to the enconomy. Tax cuts for the middle class are great, but they need to be funded by spending cuts....not earnings redistribution.

Also, we cannot forget that raising taxes on businesses drives up costs. It is rising costs that has forced American industry to India and China (the same countries who are buying up the oil we are trying to conserve) forcing companies to close the doors on domestic production and American workers.

At this time, policy is most important.

In less than one week, we will find out who will be our Commander in Chief for the next four years. There are new controversies surrounding both the Democrat and Republican camps. For instance, there has been a lot of talk all over the news and media reporting that the Republican National Committee spent about $150,000 on new clothes for Vice Presidential Candidate Sarah Palin. This story has not only attracted the attention of many Americans, but has stirred a flood of negative publicity. Although both Palin and Democratic Presidential Candidate Barack Obama have spent a large amount on clothing alone, some people have been quick to target the Alaska Governor. However, we are living in a society where looks, more than anything else, are what we base our judgment of people on. If you have one candidate who is dressed in designer clothing, and somebody else dresses in attire distinctly from a clearance rack, the latter will not be taken seriously. They spent a lot less on Sarah's wardrobe than Obama spends on TV commercials. And look at the attention Sarah Palin is getting with her wardrobe. It doesn't seem like such a bad political move. Anyway, America should not make a decision on who to vote for based on clothing, especially since the future of our country is at stake. With this in mind, vote for the candidate that supports our freedom for human rights and personal financial responsibility, such as the continued rights to no fax payday loans.

Kevin... your article should be titled "VP Pick: A Miss!" Your liberal bias shows, so don't imply in your article-title that you are balanced in what you are writing. By the way, squeezing in one brief conservative veiwpoint on Palin doesn't count as balanced. So you know, I'm not a far right-wing dude. But when I notice sloppy journalism... I point it out.

John McCain chose Sarah Palin as his vice presidential candidate for a wide variety of reasons. First, McCain chose Palin because she is a woman; therefore, she would cancel -- or at least greatly reduce -- the overwhelming number of votes that Sen. Hillary Clinton received in the Democratic primary. Second, Palin is ultra-conservative and McCain needed a candidate who would attract that ideological element of Republicans. Third, Palin is not a Washington, D.C. "insider," so McCain felt that this would help distance himself from President Bush, whose popularity is at an all-time low. Fourth, Palin has charisma and most Americans can identify themselves with her.(Her infant with down syndrome; her unmarried teenage pregnant daughter; and her son serving in war-torn Iraq -- all these factors indicate that Palin is just like any other American.) Fifth, Palin -- whether we like her or not -- is a good fiscal manager, as is indicated by the fact that she reduced wasteful spending and balanced the budget of Alaska during her governorship there. I hope that these five factors help people understand why John McCain chose Sarah Palin to be his candidate for vice president!

Here is the latest issue about Sarah Palin's family. There wasn't a payday for Sherrie Johnston; instead there were felony arrest warrants for possession of narcotics. She was arrested for possession of the prescription drug Oxycontin, which has garnered a lot of national attention for rampant abuse of the narcotic painkiller. Ordinarily, an oxy bust, even a felony oxy bust, wouldn't get a lot of attention. The thing about Sherrie is that it isn't so much what she did; it has more to do with who she is. Who she is, is the mother of one Levi Johnston. Levi got a lot of attention as the fiancé of Bristol Palin, daughter to Sarah Palin, governor of Alaska and former candidate for the Vice Presidency of the United States. Yes, the guy who got her preggers. The Bristol Palin saga has been a subject of a lot of debate and coverage in the media of the course of Palin's campaign, and it appears that the show will keep going on. Sarah Palin may have the extra cash to bail her out, but this is something most people would have the good sense to stay out of.
