Wow. What a surprise ! I understand that Dr. Gross has a strong lean toward Chuck Long of San Diego State and Ty Willingham of Washington for his next selection. Get it right this time..need a strong coach with good, no great recruiting ability!

Sadly this man only aspired to move up + make more money. The failure is that of Athletic Director Daryl Gross to properly vett the coaching candidacy, speak directly with enough people to assess whether or not he was the very best available for the job -- 4 yrs ago. Denver Broncos assert they were not interviewed .. They also assert Greg Robinson was not succeeding when he was let go. More importantly, his ability to teach / coach was weak, that his game planning was weak, that he over-delegated, and his success during the Super Bowl years was John Elway's ability to control time of possession -- more than Robinson's defenses getting stops. Daryl Gross could have recruited others. His decision to hire Greg Robinson was all his. Do not fully blame Robinson for 4 years of bad SU results. Most significant of all, NFL types do not sustain regular contact with prep / high school coaches to enjoy access to their best kids who might be future recruits. Daryl Gross made a serious error hiring Greg Robinson. There are some who say Pete Carroll allegedly gave Daryl Gross a little payback for Daryl frequently pushing his face into view of TV cameras during Gross' employment at USC, seeking notoriety for his own career. Past USC colleagues of Daryl reportedly still do not recall him warmly. Back there he was known as Mike Garrett's chauffeur & flunkie. If anyone wishes to check it out -- telephone Univ of So. Calif and ask for Senior Associate Athletic Director Steve Lopes x4158, slopes@usc.edu, , OR, Senior Associate Athletic Director Don Winston x4163. They were and still are the iron of the Dept. Maybe Nancy Cantor would like to finally check a few references herself -- which allegedly she never did. Coach Robinson is reportedly a nice guy -- but he was paid $Million$ and his team did not earn much positive net income since he arrived.
