Cheers & Jeers

Abstract:
Cheer: How Syracuse University managed to convince anyone to bring Michelangelo artwork - pieces never before presented in the United States - to America's "salt city" is beyond us. We have to applaud the school for procuring such important and unique pieces created by such a prominent artist....

Per the gun story: If you look deeper into it you'll find that they're not "giving" kids guns. They're hoping to offer pubic school hunter's safety and marksmanship classes as elective. The age for obtaining a hunting license is WV is 10. I know to a lot of Metro NE bluebloods guns are this mythical evil thing, but to those of us who grew up in a more rural culture (upstate NY for me), guns are a pretty common tool. Heck, I hate hunting and I can still hit a target.
Point is that perhaps the rise in gun violence in this country is due to sensationalized medium such as movies and video games in the hands of undiscerning youth. If more young adults are taught to respect and properly understand firearms, I believe they become less inclined to use them irresponsibly. Any kid knows from TV that pulling a trigger makes a gun fire, maybe they should be exposed to an environment that doesn't involve pointing it at people.
