Age old debate: A fresh push to lower the drinking age from the unlikely of sources

Abstract:
One of the biggest concerns leading up to Tuesday's Mayfest was that an off-campus block party would force police to shut down out-of-control parties at which alcohol was served - to minors especially.

But Mayfest came and went with no major arrests and no real problems....

I do not reject the science behind our mental maturity; I know the dangerous events that could occur with 18 year olds drinking irresponsibly, but those same consequences could be witnessed by anyone of any age. Because of this I do not fully discard the idea of an older drinking age but I do believe that if an 18 year old adult can not consume an alcoholic beverage until their 21, then they should not be going off to war until they're 21! We should make the drafting age and the drinking age parallel.
