Source: Devendorf will declare for NBA Draft

Abstract:
Eric Devendorf will declare for the NBA Draft, a source close to Devendorf told The Daily Orange on Wednesday afternoon. It is unknown whether or not Devendorf, a fourth-year junior, will hire an agent. If he does not, Devendorf has until June 15 to withdraw his name from the draft and still maintain his final year of eligibility....

Anytime you have the chance to draft such a can't-miss prospect like Devendorf, you got to do it. Who wouldn't want a guy that plays tenacious defense every possession, crashes the boards with reckless abandon, plays hard every night even when he isn't getting touches and does all the little things to make a team great? Oh wait. That he makes occasional big shots almost makes up for the fact that he is the most atrocious perimeter defender in the history of Syracuse basketball. Throw in his ridiculous on-court attitude and off-court idiocy, and the fact that no player on any NBA team would even take him seriously or talk to him, and you have a can't miss lottery pick.

haha It must be something that is pushing him towards the draft because it is not his game. He'll be lucky if he sniffs the second round. Nick Calathes who is miles ahead of Devendorf is projected as a mid second round pick, so what does that tell you? No one on this team is ready for the NBA except Jonny Flynn and even with that he's a mid to late first round pick.

Anyways, if they both go (Devendorf and Flynn) the Orange backcourt will be one of the worst in the nation next season, I guarantee it. Rautins should only have the ball when he is open for a jump shot, Scoop flat out sucks, Triche and Southerland will be unproven freshman.

Devendorf plans on declaring for the NBA? That's a laugh for all the reasons Matt set forth above. He's such a terrible defender that this may end up helping SU. Clearly Dr. Gross knew this was coming based on his comments when interviewed yesterday. It will be interesting to see what Paul Harris does. I don't think he'll declare for the draft, as he has less chance of getting drafted than Devendorf, and Eric's chances are about zero. I think Harris is sick of Boeheim going off on him all the time, and I think he sees that his role will be greatly diminished next year with Wes Johnson coming in, along with Scoop coming back, and incoming recruits, DaShonte Riley, Brandon Triche, and James Southerland (if he's eligible)coming in next fall. If Jonny decides to declare and hires an agent, then Harris is gone for sure.
