SU changes calendar for 2009-10 year

Abstract:
For the 2009-2010 academic year, fall semester classes will end a day later, pushing reading days and final examinations to the Monday of that week, rather than Friday of the previous week.

This is the only change for that year's academic calendar, which was released Tuesday by the Academic Calendar Committee (ACC)....

I wish they would change the Spring semester dates, too! I don't like commencement weekend the same as mother's day. It's a real pain for all the administrative and faculty to not be able to spend a day with family, and I can't go to my friends graduations here since I want to be with my family back home to celebrate mom on her day. Can't they change it so graduation is the week after? If Fall is being pushed back an extra week for exams, we should have the whole schedule moved too- so breaks are consistant to what we've come to expect. In a chain reaction, graduation would then be a week after Mother's Day.

Or even better, don't have commencement & convocation on the weekend- staff and faculty have to be here during the week anyway, just have it on the Wednesday & Thursday following Mother's Day. then i can move out and travel and be home by the next weekend. Have a day to relax and move and not be so pressured during finals to have to pack everything, too!!!
