'We have to get back to those days'

Abstract:
Andy Rautins can't escape the expectations. Not around campus, where the fans never let him forget Syracuse's recent scuffles. Not in the Carrier Dome, where he is routinely greeted by trophies and mementos of the Orange's achievements. Not even in his own home, where his father, Leo, has stories to tell about the two NCAA Tournament games he won playing for the Orangemen....

Warrick graduated in 2005 and Gerry in 2006, or at least their eligibility expired. SU went to the Sweet 16 in 2004, the year that Gerry scored 43 against BYU. 2005 was the ill-fated loss to Vermont in Worchester. Hak had 10 turnovers in that game. 2006 was SU's improbable run to the Big East championship. But for that run, SU would have already missed the NCAAs three years in a row. SU is going to have to rebound better and play like a team if they want to make the NCAAs. If Boeheim is going to really go 9 deep this year, they should be pretty good. They will still have problems against taller teams so they might press more. There is no reason for them not to make it though. They just can't suffer stupid home losses early in the season like they have the past couple of years.
