Contrary to what the Daily Orange reports, Syracuse University will not be "the first institution nationwide to house its teaching and research facilities for the biology and chemistry departments under one roof." The 12-story Marshak Science Building at The City College of New York (CCNY), which was erected in the 1970s, houses teaching and research facilities not only for our Biology and Chemistry departments but for our Physics and Earth and Atmospheric science departments, as well.

I will not claim that Marshak is the first and, so far, the only building of its kind, but I would advise Daily Orange reporters to do more thorough fact checking before making statements such as these. That's what I learned when I took the introduction newswriting course at Newhouse.
