FB | Time to act
Abstract:
Timing is everything, and you can be sure Daryl Gross knows this.
Ultimately, it might have been the timing of Greg Robinson's hiring that doomed the regime from the start. You think Gross took too long to fire Robinson? When Gross canned Paul Pasqualoni on Dec....

Let me start by saying that I'm an alum. I'm from Syracuse. I grew up in the Carrier Dome, and I absolutely bleed Orange.
But I have turned down repeated requests to donate time and money to the University and will continue to do so until Dr. Gross is gone. And I know I'm not alone.
It's not just the handling of Greg Robinson. There are a lot of ugly things going on behind the scenes - specifically the poor treatment of former players that aren't Donovan or Carmelo - and the fault lies at the feet of Dr. Gross.
He likes to tout the success of the non-revenue sports under his watch. But the truth is this: They won't be around unless revenue from the football team can fund them so he better figure out a way to fix the program.
And I hope he's not attempting to take credit for a lacrosse national championship. I think the 9 national championships we won before he got there might have played a bigger role.
Dr. Gross' lack of respect for many of the University's traditions is unacceptable. His hubris led the football program to its sorry state, and the downward spiral will continue until he is gone.

Doesn't Gross look like Sam Cassell's long-lost alien brother?

I am an alum who needs to vent. My distain and anger begin with Nancy Cantor and move on to Gross and Robinson.
Does anyone remember newly appointed Chancellor Cantor publicly endorsing Coach "P" and promising to retain him? To call her dishonest and lacking character would be an insult to those who are dishonest and lack character. They got rid of Coach "P" because above average was no longer good enough. 99% of us who bleed Orange would love to be "above average" once again.
Moving on to Dr. Gross. When he made his FIRST order of business, holding a fashion show to exhibit the newly designed team uniforms.....I knew we were doomed. Where was he Asst AD, Fashion Institute of Technology? Here is a man whose priorities are clearly skewed. He has stuck by his poor decision, and refused to change course despite disasterous results.
And finally poor Coach Robinson. From day 1, this guy has been a deer in the headlights. CLEARLY he is in way over his head. His inability to recruit or impliment his offensive and defensive schemes is laughable.
It is time to clean house. From the coach at least up to the AD, and hopefully up to Chancellor.
