The Republicans could use more Snowe this fall
Abstract:
As the Democrats ride triumphantly this week after the Thursday announcement of a House health care bill, the Republicans are entangled in a civil war within its own party.
Conservatives within the party are waiting in the wings to crush any bipartisan support for health care....

You raise some fine, fine points! What all Republicans should do is...act like Democrats! Sound advice from Ms. Swab.
There are so many things wrong with this article, I don't know where to begin. Hopefully I don't run out of characters in my response.
Your opening is laughable. The Democrats riding a triumphant wave? The health care debate has been an enormous loss for the Dems. It has become political suicide for moderate representatives in the House. Just because the Dems finally WROTE a bill, that will be changed, debated, re-written, and watered down in the days to come), does not mean there is anything for left-wingers to celebrate. Throw in the fact that Sen. Lieberman announced his intention to join the Republicans in fillibuster, and your lead to this article represents a general lack of knowledge. I'd also note that I bet you do NOT applaud Lieberman from breaking from his party, while you are quick to heap praise on Olympia "Why the F am I a Republican" Snow.
Republicans are not "purging their party." What you are seeing represents a regeneration in the base. I'm not sure where you are getting this doom and gloom GOP outlook from (oh wait, yes I do, Olbermann and Maddow) but by all accounts, Obama's abysmal first year has invigorated and rejuvenated the GOP. Evidence of this will come tomorrow when Republican governors win NJ (where Obama won by 16 points) and VA (should be a 15 point victory). Additionally, the conservative, anti-Pelosi candidate (who you criticize conservatives for backing) is poised to take down the NY-23 seat.
I appreciate your effort in writing these columns, but they are so ignorant, one sided and lacking insight that I would implore the DO to incorporate a more diverse spectrum of political commentary.
Thanks!

I really hope that a former House Speaker has better things to do than surf the web for columns about his political endorsements

Love that objective assessment! Man, are you one-sided and biased, not to mention wrong. Name one thing that Obama and the Dems have solved or are close to solving in the past 9 months? Nope and the reason...major US and world issues are much more complex than 'hope and change' statements. There's a thing called reality that gets in the way. Example? Gitmo. It's very interesting that the Dem's and Obama scream to close Gitmo, but they have NO solution, with no Dem wanting the terriorists shipped to 'their backyard'. How about Afganistan. More troops on the way? Thought Obama was going to pull them out. No more lobbists in DC per Obama? Nope, strong as ever. Cut down on the pork? The TARP $'s are loaded... in the $10 of billions. And the list goes on. By the way, I'm not a Republican or conservative.
