Let's get something straight. West Virginia is not the same powerful team it has been these past few years. Holding our own in that game should give us little strength.

The sad news in any Big East game wherein SU may be seen as being somewhat competitive, this year, speaks not of the 'Cuse rising through the ranks of the conference (we are far from doing that, anyway). It only goes to show that most of the conference teams are losing ground to the powerhouse teams throughout the nation.

If you look at today's polls, only South Florida is a top twenty team in both national polls - and they are near the bottom of the rankings. One polls also gives Pitt a slot, but the other one does not. That's it. No Louisville. No West Virginia. No Rutgers. None of the teams we are used to seeing the past few years.

So, we have our work cut out for us. Improve our team. Improve our conference. It's a tall order, but it can be done.
