It's hard to put a finger on one good thing that has happened since Dr. Gross stepped on campus. He's now hijacked the athletic department against the wishes of the student body and alumni, and he has no desire to hear any alternatives to his way. This man must be stopped. One football victory should not take the heat off.

A long athletic and academic tradition is enough to maintain the swimming/diving programs at S.U..Dr. Gross has chosen to ignore the current and past student athletes by failing to attend events and meetings. I am completely insulted by the athletic departments lack of honesty and committment to all student athletes at this great, great school.

Swimming/Diving has brought credit and honor to Syracuse University for almost a century....with champions and championships galore, yet even more significantly, outstanding alumni themelves in national and world leadership positions. The AD ignores/has completely ignored the volumes of evidence (from such alumni and other experts) that prove SU needs Swim/Dive students - and apparently needs them more than it needs current AD leaders.
Board of Trustees and Administration - you all, as well as the Student Association, will see that SU's Swim/Dive is part of the university's lifeblood - past, present and definitely future. Since the AD's shock announcement via the press June 1 (without consultation with swimmers, divers, parents), the students themselves, and supporters, parents, alumni et al, have leant over backwards with info and courtesy to meet with AD, Astt AD etc - to no avail. SU leaders(BOT)nurture SU's reputation, and might be amazed to look at the Swim/Dive situation so well observed by the Student Association(article).
Good luck, teams! You cost SU so little in $$s, but bring to SU so much in scholarship, swim-success, sportsmanship, highest GDPs, ethics, integrity - even fame....all priceless, but in a way worth countless $$billions to SU and to the world. Students, bravo and keep at it!
