Something to talk about
Abstract:
Free speech advocates nationwide were puzzled when they heard Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr. would be the keynote speaker at today's Newhouse III dedication.
"I was kind of surprised that he would make a speech focusing on the First Amendment," said Tony Mauro, a Legal Times Supreme Court correspondent who has covered the court for several publications during the last 27 years....

This biased article belongs on the opinion page! Instead of celebrating the high honor of having the Chief Justice on campus, Spinmaster Hicken makes the critics the story, a very old method of editorializing in a supposed news story. Advocacy journalism at its worst!

Wait...what? You have the Supreme Court Chief Justice coming to Syracuse, more than likely a once in a lifetime opportunity to see him, and you put out an article talking down on him. Typical Syracuse University Student/Contributor. Wait Until Michael Moore comes back so we can all celebrate and run around in the streets, but as soon as anyone with (R) next to their name shows up, its an automatic protest.
BTW Roberts was sworn in in a 78-22 Vote by the Senate, while im not an expert, 78 out of 100 is 78%, and according to the Rule of Eliot Spitzer, now Chief Justice Roberts can shit all over your rights as much as he wants now, just the same way Eliot can think up more ways to tax the poor.

Does anyone else detect an irony between today's two feature news articles? While Chief Justice Roberts speaks on campus about the First Amendment, it has been revealed that Syracuse University administration has canceled (censored?) a November exhibition by anti-corporation activists, THE YES MEN. What's more, they're now lying about the cancellation. Sounds like a cover-up.

I think this article is a disgrace to Syracuse University. How the Daily Orange could allow such a biased and ignorant writer to construct an article for the front page is beyond me. I don't know who this Melanie is, or more who she thinks she is, but she needs a sersious reality check. She honestly had the audacity to form such an article on the day we are honored to have Cheif Justice Roberts at our school! Thank you for embarcing all of us, and to the DO I suggest you find a more informed and unbiased writter for your next front page article.
YOU MAKE ME SICK!!!
