McCullough: Syracuse lacrosse poised to dominate new Big East conference

Abstract:
With SU onboard, the Big East lacrosse league will begin play next season. Syracuse will join a league stocked with doormats (Providence, Rutgers, St. John's and Villanova) and stepping stones (Georgetown, Notre Dame) - and the doormats will spend years striving to become stepping stones.

Mr. Andy McCullogh;

There's an obvious reason you are the Enterprise Editor! You have learned your craft well and written a really nice article here. You didn't sugar coat the situation with joining a league and you clearly predicted what is to come. Syracuse delivered an embarrasing "butt whooping" to a vastly overmatched opponent this weekend. Frenzied lacrosse fans (SU FANS anyway) will delight in the lop sided score, purists will shudder at this mismatch and wonder "at what cost does this come"?
Syracuse has won so many titles and dominated so many teams partly due to the fact that couldn't let down from week to week against a stacked, independant schedule. Throw in several back to back weeks of cupcakes and lets see what happens in crunch time.
I don't live in Syracuse anymore , so I don't get to the games in person. However, I'm sure not laying down MY cold ,hard cash to watch a glorified scrimmage! I'd rather see a divided squad game...Orange VS. Blue than watch Providence etc.
Having said this....GO ORANGE..Bring home ANOTHER title!!!!
Oh yeah..Andy..keep up the good work!!

Good piece, but it is Brendan Cannon, not Brandon, and Georgetown never made the final four with Cannon/Kass/Lambe.

Also, Cannon and Kass were recruited in 2003 and showed up at Georgetown in 2004. Jerry Lambe, the 2007 ECAC defensive player of the year, joined the Hoyas two years in prior, for 2002-03, though he was forced to redshirt that year.
