Campus remembers 'charismatic' student

Gleidy was also an HEOP student and I was her counselor. She was all of thie things mentioned and more. She was an outstanding giver, a serious student, a beautiful young woman and had a special concern for the welfare of her family and friends. I am having a horrible time trying to digest and accept the reason for her death particularly because I have been with her since bfore she entered Syracuse University (through the admissions process) and have gone through many struggles with her. She would be anxious about how she was going to get everything done but always had a giggle when we came to suggesting what she needed to do to prioritize. Everything was important to her so this was a difficult thing for her to do. She never lost sight of her dream to becoming an accountant and worked hard to make that dream come true. Often she spent the night with her learning community partners at Whitman and then came across the street to see me before she went to bed! But she always had a smile and loved a hug which I was fortunate enough to share with her often. She loved her dad, mom, sister and brother and always worried about them in a way that a mother would worry.They in turn loved her as well. I will miss her terribly and can honestly say that she was one of my very favorite students. I love her and know that she is praying for all of us that knew her and now we have our own angel in heaven that will continue to look out for us.
