Staff report
Hakim Warrick did not practice with the Syracuse men's basketball team yesterday because of a right ankle injury. The Orangemen will take today off and re-evaluate Warrick's injury before practice Friday.
Warrick injured his ankle late in the first half of Tuesday night's exhibition game against the Harlem Globetrotters. He drove hard to the basket and collided with Ron Rollerson, the Globetrotters 320-pound center.
Warrick immediately hobbled off the court and into the locker room, forcing Matt Gorman to enter the game and shoot Warrick's free throws. Warrick stayed in the locker room and received treatment for the rest of the game.
Privacy legislation prohibits Syracuse from releasing specific information about the severity of Warrick's injury. But after Tuesday's game, his teammates seemed confident it was nothing more than a sprained ankle.
"I think he just rolled on it," said guard Josh Pace, Warrick's roommate. "I've got a good feeling he's going to be OK."
