Thirty or so inches of beaten-up wood, a lacrosse stick with shoelace strings handed to him, John, the new kid on the block, by Kevin, a neighborhood staple.
Despite Big East loss, tennis team predicts future success

Maybe it wasn't the storybook ending to the 2002 chapter of the Syracuse tennis team. But with the core returning next season, the book’s ending has yet to be written. Friday's 4-0 loss to Boston College in Miami ended Syracuse's (9-12, 5-3 Big East) quest for a Big East Championship, but the match could have easily turned the other way.
Softball team tries to rebound from losses during doubleheaders this weekend

Before the beginning of the season, softball head coach Mary Jo Firnbach labeled herself as a "glass-half-full" type of person. So even though her Orangewomen have lost four of their last six games, she can still take solace in the fact that the team has won as many games already this year as it did all of last season, right?
