New student affairs director hopes for homecoming weekend success

Despite a disappointing turnout for lackluster Homecoming week activities last year, Ellen King is hopeful that this year will mark the beginning of a new era for Syracuse University’s fall festivities. King, who joined the student affairs department as Director of Student Events in June, says that the events so far this week have been well-attended, despite an admitted lack of publicity and a tight planning schedule.
SA struggles with attendence problems

Though it is still relatively early in the semester, the first several Student Association meetings have had membership and participation problems. Several of the first meetings of the year have been poorly attended by assembly members and left SA without quorum, meaning they did not have enough assembly members present to vote on the issues discussed.
Students report many break-ins to police
Staff Reports An unidentified person broke into a Syracuse University student’s apartment between 11 p.m. and 2 a.m. Tuesday on the 1000 block of Madison Street, according to a Syracuse Police Department report. The person entered through an unlocked bedroom window, the report stated.
