UConn rolls Syracuse
By Alan Cavanna
HARTFORD, Conn. — Syracuse forward April Jean stood underneath her team's basket and expressed sheer frustration. After committing her third foul with eight minutes left in the first half, Jean slapped the floor and looked toward the bench. It would be Jean’s last action of the half, as Syracuse went to its reserves.
Huskies outsize Orangewomen, dominate on glass
By Adam Kilgore
HARTFORD, Conn. — The captains’ meeting at halfcourt before a basketball game allows two teams to size up one another. It's a proud tradition as old as the game itself. But the captains’ meeting before Syracuse played at No. 1 Connecticut last night didn't make SU head coach Marianna Freeman think of tradition or sportsmanship.
Four fouls land Taurasi on bench, in doghouse
By Scott Lieber
HARTFORD, Conn. — From the somewhat creative (“Diana is UConn's Sweetheart”) to the simplistic (“Diana Rules”), signs in appreciation of Connecticut point guard Diana Taurasi draped across the crowd during last night’s game against Syracuse. Taurasi is emerging as one of the best players in women's college basketball history.

By Sandy Weintraub

"The day I was hired as athletic director," said Evansville’s Bill McGillis, who was brought in before the season, "I went to the players and asked them about the uniforms.
No joke: Carroll leads Irish
By Eric Fontes
Matt Carroll knows how to keep the nationally-ranked Notre Dame men’s basketball team comfortable on and off the court — confidence. "I'm serious. I can shoot the ball better than anyone in the country," he said at the beginning of a phone interview with an uproar of laughter in the background.
SU stumbles out of bed early for scrimmage against Maryland
By Pete Iorizzo
That dull buzz that reverberated through South Campus at 8 this morning? It must have been the alarm clocks of the Syracuse men’s lacrosse team, which all went off around that time to rouse the Orangemen for today’s 11 a.m. scrimmage against Maryland at the Carrier Dome.
DeShaun sounds off, T-shirts sell out
By Chris Snow
Come to think of it … *** DeShaun Williams appears to be putting Syracuse in the past. The talented but ignominious shooting guard — who while here seemed to be above the law more than he was above the rim — transferred to Iona in August rather than attend community college to resuscitate his GPA.
