Olmos Famous: Well-known activist speaks on diversity

Javier Vergara attended Edward James Olmos's first speech at Syracuse University with his mother, Martha, in 1991. Javier, then 8 years old, asked the first question of the acclaimed actor, director and Latino activist: How did you get to where you are today? This question carried special weight - both the young Vergara and the then-44-year-old Olmos have learning disabilities.

If those were their only problems, perhaps the three divorced couples in "The Dinner Party" would not cry and scream and tear one another to pieces.

'Splendor' strips comic book artist to his soul

Harvey Pekar doesn't seem like someone to make a comic book about, and he really doesn't seem like someone to make a movie about. However, in the 1970s Pekar embarked on a long-running comic book series chronicling his mundane life. Shari Springer Berman and Robert Pulcini crafted a motion picture dealing with these events.
