Great escape: Marianna Freeman enjoys life after coaching at Syracuse

She loved too many things, and basketball wasn't one of them. Marianna Freeman needed music. At night, she reclined on her couch, chose one CD from her book of 500 and turned the volume up loud. She liked jazz best. She closed her eyes as she listened, nodding her head and humming the tune.

Orange Grove tradition to be determined through contest

Traditions don't grow on trees but the SU Alumni Association apparently thinks they do. The Alumni Association hopes to make the Orange Grove an integral part of SU culture through the Create a Tradition Competition, which began March 15. Sharry Diamond, an SU alumni and head of the committee, feels that students aren't satisfied with the number of Orange traditions and wants to help them become involved.
Number of break-ins on campus lower during Spring Break

Despite significant increases in the occurrence of car break-ins and burglaries this year, only one such crime was reported on campus during Spring Break. Public Safety officials attributed the lack of crime to educational efforts from university and student organizations, as well as traditional crime prevention efforts such as increased patrols.

Student's laptop stolen from bedroom
STAFF REPORTS Public Safety officers responded to a burglary complaint at about 4 p.m. Saturday on the 400 block of Winding Ridge Road, according to a Public Safety report. SU has struggled since Freeman's exit
Her seat has changed, but nothing else is different. Even when she sits in the stands, Marianna Freeman acts the same as she did during her 11-year career on the Syracuse bench. She responds to a bad call by dismissively flipping her wrist. After baskets, she glances neurotically at the scoreboard; after turnovers, she grits her teeth and stares through the floor.
