Poor free throw shooting could doom Orangemen

Think of all the Syracuse men's basketball team's shooters. Freshman Demetris Nichols is a 3-point ace, finally finding his shot after starting inconsistently. Over his last two games, he's shooting 8-for-15. He's shooting just 44.4 percent from the free-throw line for the year.

When reporters stormed the Connecticut men's basketball team's locker room Friday, senior forward Ryan Swaller wasn't answering many questions. He was doing finance homework. If the Huskies continue their winning ways, Swaller will have even more make-up work to catch up on.
DePetris dominates grounders

Syracuse women's lacrosse team midfielder Jill DePetris plays as if she has a Hoover vacuum for a stick. The only difference is that her stick doesn't suck. DePetris leads Syracuse this season with 12 groundballs in only four games for the Orangewomen.
Rose kicks back into freshman form

Tanya Rose's tear through the Big East two seasons ago dismantled the Syracuse softball team record books. Rose set single-season records for hits, total bases, on-base percentage, stolen bases and multi-hit games. Records are meant to be broken, as the cliché goes, but not by freshmen.
Syracuse declines homecoming, heads straight for Phoenix

The Syracuse men's basketball team could have returned this weekend to a hero's welcome. It chose rest and free time instead. SU head coach Jim Boeheim decided after Syracuse advanced to the Sweet 16 with a 72-70 over Maryland on Tuesday to remain in Denver and not return to Syracuse before flying to Phoenix.
