Professional lacrosse is hardly glamorous

Ryan Powell rolled up to practice last Thursday in a black Mercedes G500. The starting price is $77,000. This year, Powell is a volunteer assistant coach for the Syracuse lacrosse team. He also plays professionally in Major League Lacrosse, one of the two professional lacrosse leagues in the United States.

Details of Cieplicki's tumultuous first season have begun to emerge. Ticket prices jump following 6-6 season

After going 10-14 in the last two seasons, failing to make a bowl game for the second straight year and losing two home games with the departure of Virginia Tech and Miami to the Atlantic Coast Conference, SU has increased ticket prices for the fourth straight season.

Jim Reid was busy serving his ninth season as the head football coach at Division I-AA Richmond this winter when Syracuse head coach Paul Pasqualoni called. Pasqualoni phoned to inquire about a member of Reid's staff whom they both thought would be a good fit for the defensive line job opening at Syracuse.

Cornell sweeps SU in doubleheader

ITHACA - After the Syracuse softball team was swept by Cornell in a doubleheader yesterday, head coach Mary Jo Firnbach gathered her team in the outfield of Niemand-Robinson Field. Firnbach paced up and down the length of a dejected team huddle with her arms flailing.

Orangewomen fail at small ball

ITHACA - At yesterday's softball game between Cornell and Syracuse, a heap of old, beat-up tires sat in stacks outside the visiting dugout. But after Syracuse lost in the bottom of the seventh inning in both games of its doubleheader, the Orangewomen left Niemand-Robison Field looking more worn out than the pile of Michelins and Goodyears.
