So, football's back and it's still a sport. Oh, hooray. Let's all brace ourselves for another exciting season of touchdowns, tackles, cocaine abuse, field goals and vigorous spousal abuse. Hey, do you know why you drink when you watch football? It's because football's boring (I would have also accepted 'because I'm an alcoholic' or 'because my father's an alcoholic and drinking helps me deal with it').

Sometimes a good reader can go too far. In his speech yesterday, author Tobias Wolfe described a man who decades ago became so engrossed with a novel that he convinced himself the protagonist was his own sister. When the "sister" fell into trouble, the man became so enraged that he traveled to New York City and murdered the author of the novel.

Dance groups unite for show

A little tap. A little ballroom. A little salsa. A lot of dancing. Last night's All-Campus Dance Showcase combined all these elements of dance and more. The show was the first ever to feature all of Syracuse University's eight dance groups, and was a long time coming.

Wyclef Jean. Talib Kweli. Da Band. Method Man. De La Soul. Northern State. George Clinton and the P-Funk Allstars. The list of recent hip-hop acts visiting Syracuse University goes on and on. But Midtown and Bouncing Souls are about to change all that. This year's homecoming concert will take on a decidedly punk flavor when the two acts take the stage in Goldstein Auditorium Sunday night.
