Former South Korean prime minister joins Board of Trustees

After cleaning up corruption as a former prime minister, governor and mayor of a capital city, the newest member of Syracuse University's board of trustees has an unquestioned record of integrity. Goh Kun, the former prime minister of South Korea, was named a voting member to the board this November after many discussions of the value of his international perspective and reputation, said Chair Emeritus Joe Lampe. "We want individuals who can help the university through their wisdom and their hard work," Lampe said. "He had been approved a year ago, and it was just before he became prime minister. He wrote me a letter and said that he couldn't devote enough time to SU because of his position."
UU Cinemas wastes estimated $9,000

After what will mark one of the worst semesters in University Union Cinemas' history, UU officials have estimated $9,000 was spent on 12 films that were never screened. UU Cinemas organizers say they have held, at most, three screening events this semester.
Professor collaborates with Oscar-winning filmmaker to create autism documentary

A new documentary produced by Syracuse University professor Douglas Biklen and Oscar-winning filmmaker Gerardine Wurzburg is offering a new look into the world of autism. Biklen, a Division of International Programs Abroad professor, has teamed up with Wurzburg to produce the documentary, "Autism is a World," which provides a first-hand account of the life of an autistic person.
Expert suggests U.S. refine foreign strife

About 20 students and faculty members gathered Thursday for the Program on the Analysis and Resolution of Conflicts' Conversations in Conflict Studies Lecture Series.
House burglarized over Thanksgiving break
Staff reports An unidentified person broke into the residence of seven Syracuse University students, taking about $2,800 worth of belongings from their home on the 800 block of Comstock Avenue some time over Thanksgiving break, according to a police report.
