Ben Folds slated to play Goldstein
Future concerts still in doubt

Although University Union Concerts is faced with its largest budget cut in its history, the organization was able to book Ben Folds as its first large show of the semester. Folds was originally scheduled to perform at Syracuse University in early December, but had to cancel due to illness, according to Adam Gorode and Sherlen Archibald, co-executive directors for UU Concerts.
Online book vendors offer cheaper deals

Strained by the burden of increasing textbook costs, students are increasingly looking to fill their orders online. According to a survey by the California Student Public Interest Research Group (CALPIRG), the Oregon Student Public Interest Research Group (OSPIRG) and the OSPIRG Foundation, students on average spent $898 on textbooks in 2003 to 2004, compared to an average of $642 in 1996 to 1997.
Sandwich chain opens on M-Street

Competing with pitas and pizza, Jimmy John's Gourmet Sandwich Shop is the newest entry into the Marshall Street market for food. Open since Jan. 4, Jimmy John's offers subs, club sandwiches and Coca Cola products, and delivery to students on the hill as late as 3 a.
Washington Arms robbed over break
STAFF REPORTS Two burglaries occurred at Washington Arms over winter break, according to a police report. In the first, an unidentified person stole 33 DVDs, a Sony digital camera, a memory card and a tape recorder, the report stated. There were no signs of forced entry, according to the report.
