Somber cathedral ceremony marks return of Syracuse's sainthood candidate

A homecoming over a century in the making was celebrated Wednesday night as hundreds of residents gathered to witness the return of the body of Syracuse's own holy woman. Mother Marianne Cope, a late Sister of St. Francis from Syracuse, and now a candidate for Roman Catholic sainthood, returned home for the first time in over 100 years.
Student expelled from university after creating fake IDs

A former Syracuse University student has been charged with four criminal offenses which could land him in jail for as long as 20 years and cost him fines up to $500,000. Nick Griffin, a Jamesville native who attended SU in the fall as a sophomore political science major and whose father also works as a professor at the university, has been indicted on three counts of reproducing military identification cards and one count of making a false statement while under investigation.
Health center lacks now readily available influenza vaccine

The influenza vaccination, once highly sought after, is now readily available to anyone interested in staying flu-free for the remainder of the season. But it cannot be found at Syracuse University Health Services. At the onset of flu season, Health Services received 100 doses of the vaccination from the Onondaga County Health Department.
Sammy contracts three-year lease for Comstock property

Residents of the Sigma Alpha Mu fraternity house will not be moving any time soon, according to Ivan Rodriguez, a junior psychology major and spokesperson for the fraternity. As of this semester, Sammy signed a three-year lease with the owner of 737 Comstock Ave.
UU Concerts hosts tsunami benefit

This Friday, University Union Concerts will hold a benefit show featuring several local musicians at the Wescott Community Center to raise money for tsunami victims.
EFS student caught with alcohol

A State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry student received a ticket for violating the city's open container law at around 12:30 a.m. Saturday, according to a Public Safety Report. Public Safety and Syracuse Police Neighborhood Safety Patrol officers observed the student with an open alcoholic beverage on public property, the report stated.
