Admissions prepare for new SATs

High school classes graduating in 2006 will be the first to take a new SAT, which includes more difficult problems in the math portion and an entirely new writing section. The new SAT will bring changes at both the high school and college levels, including Syracuse University, but dean of admissions Susan Donovan said SU's admissions board will continue to focus more on the student's academic record rather than standardized tests.

Over 100 nations have agreed to help stop the continuing rise in global temperature by signing a pact to reduce greenhouse emissions by 2012. The Kyoto Protocol was initiated on Feb. 16. It is part of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, which was created over a decade ago.
Student arrested on charge of sexual assault

The Syracuse Police Department received a complaint regarding a sexual assault at an on-campus location Saturday from 1:30 to about 2 a.m., according to a Public Safety report. The Syracuse University student accused of perpetrating the sexual assault and another student were assaulted outside their apartment by unidentified persons in retaliation, the report stated.
