Warrick earns Big East Player of the Year title

Hakim Warrick was named Big East Player of the Year on Tuesday. Warrick beat out Providence forward Ryan Gomes, St. John's guard Daryll Hill, Boston College's Craig Smith and a slew of other conference players. SU guard Josh Pace also won the conference Sportsmanship Award.

It was 1985, and if it didn't happen in the Big East, it didn't matter to college basketball. Patrick Ewing played for Georgetown, Chris Mullin led St. John's and Ed Pinckney made a miracle for Villanova as three Big East teams went to the Final Four. That still hasn't happened again.
Injury can't derail SU recruit

Shevelle McPherson was not even done unpacking her son Lamar's bags from her car when it happened. Lamar hopped on a bike when some children from the block asked if he wanted to ride. He fell off and busted his chin open. Lamar had just moved to Michigan to start seventh grade, and quickly became acclimated to the local medical center.

Courtney Mosch remembers last year's game against Cornell vividly. Syracuse took the field with a comfortable two-run lead. But before she knew it, Cornell gave her a scare by loading up the bases in the bottom of the seventh inning. Melissa Heintz of Cornell plated three runs on one swing of the bat to recapture the lead and the game.
