Distractions lead to dissapointing end

WORCESTER, Mass. - In Syracuse's 60-57 loss to Vermont on Friday, three scholarship players - Billy Edelin, Dayshawn Wright and Josh Wright - were missing from the Syracuse bench. When asked if there was a reason for their absence, head coach Jim Boeheim simply said "there is a reason," refusing to elaborate further on any of the three.

Senior trio's careers come to abrupt end

WORCESTER, Mass. - Josh Pace didn't envision his Syracuse career ending like this. From Big East Champions to one of the NCAA Tournament's biggest upsets in one week was too much to fathom for Pace and fellow senior Hakim Warrick. "We really can't say we had a bad career," Pace said.

Unpopular tourney consolation games long gone

Thirty years ago to the day on March 22, 1975, all four NCAA Tournament regional finals were played. But those games were only half of the NCAA slate that day. There were also four regional consolation finals between the two Sweet 16 losers in each region.

Lord Jeffrey Amherst was a general that helped lead the British forces to victory in the French and Indian War. His leadership struck again last weekend, as he aided the Syracuse women's lacrosse team in culminating a triumphant road trip.

Men's lax falls to 1-3

For the first time since 1975, the Syracuse men's lacrosse team is 1-3. The Orange lost 12-11 in overtime against Johns Hopkins on Friday. SU has now lost back-to-back home games for the first time since 1995. Freshman Mike Leveille scored five goals. SU goalie Jay Pfeifer recorded 14 saves.

Mac Gifford has a To Do List, but it includes a little more than the usual spring cleaning. After the Syracuse tennis team lost matches against Yale, Loyola Marymount and Fresno State last week, its head coach says his team has a lot to work on. "I'm losing a lot of sleep trying to come to terms with what everyone needs to work on," Gifford said.
