SPD investigating alleged sexual assault of SU student

The Syracuse Police Department's Abused Persons Unit is in the process of investigating an alleged sexual assault of a female Syracuse University student, according to a SPD news release. Police responded to the SU campus around 5 a.m. Friday, immediately beginning an investigation with the help of the SU Department of Public Safety and the Onondaga County District Attorney's office, according to the release.
SU junior dies while studying abroad

Syracuse University junior Matt Wanetik died Friday morning at the home of his host family in Strasbourg, France, according to an email sent Friday afternoon by Thomas Wolfe, interim senior vice president and dean of student affairs. Wanetik, a political science and international relations major and member of the Alpha Epsilon Pi fraternity, was studying in France through the SU Abroad Strasbourg Center.

Campus crime-tracking Web site allows civilians to post reports

Using bandits, handcuffs and moneybags, Syracuse University students can now track crime on an online map. UCrime.com, a free Web site independent of SU, generates the map. The site launched this summer and is the first online crime-mapping service for college campuses.

When Diane Kunzelman shines intense light on Michelangelo's Doni Tondo, she said it's almost as if the brushstrokes are invisible. But technological advances have enabled art conservators like Kunzelman to better restore pieces to their original beauty. Students and staff gathered Thursday afternoon in the Life Sciences Complex Auditorium for a presentation by Kunzelman, a Syracuse University alumnus and renowned painting restorer.
