Ralph Nader to hold campaign rally in Syracuse

Howie Hawkins, the Green Populist candidate for Congress in New York's 25th District, left soon after the congressional forum at Maxwell Hall ended Wednesday night. Hawkins lingered for a few minutes, chatting, before he had to go. Ralph Nader, independent presidential candidate of the Green Party, was coming to Syracuse later in the week, so Hawkins had a meeting scheduled at the Onondaga County Green Party office to plan for the meeting.

Natalia Piombino talks about the Italian mafia every day. Piombino, a native of Sicily, Italy, is a professor at the SU Abroad center in Florence. Two years ago she worked to create a program with abroad students that combined scholarly work with community service.
Shaq Spotting: NBA All-Star dines at Funk 'n Waffles day before exhibition game

At approximately 6 p.m. Thursday, 14-time NBA all-star Shaquille O'Neal was spotted heading into Funk 'n Waffles on Marshall Street, said Stone Dow, an employee at the restaurant. O'Neal approached Dow as he was heading toward the restaurant to start his shift.

Jason Reeves kicks off Bandersnatch concert series The folk-pop singer headlined Wednesday night's performance in the Schine Underground. More than 150 people turned up to catch Reeves and his friend/fellow songwriter Tyrone Wells. Great to see UU reach out to artists from all different backgrounds and all, but honestly … who are these guys? At one point, Wells called himself a "tall, bald guy with a guitar.
