Eric Devendorf, a junior starting guard on Syracuse University's men's basketball team, has been suspended for the rest of the academic year. A judicial affairs hearing board ruled Wednesday he violated the university's Student Code of Conduct.

Local shelters struggle with economic recession

In California, an unemployed money manager murdered his family after losing his fortune, according to the Associated Press. Incidents of domestic violence have surfaced throughout the country since the crash of the market in early October. In Syracuse, officials say that though there may be a correlation between the economy and violence, it is too early to judge whether or not there is a causal relationship.
