On Monday afternoon, Sharif, a doctoral student at Syracuse University, knew exactly how long it had been since he'd last spoken to anyone.
County law raises age to buy tobacco

Eighteen-year-olds will no longer be able to buy tobacco products in Onondaga County, beginning March 2. The Onondaga County Legislature overturned County Executive Joanie Mahoney's veto of the Onondaga Tobacco 19 law Jan. 7, effectively raising the age to purchase tobacco products to 19.
Plans for Ernie Davis Hall move forward despite setbacks

When Michelle McClafferty returned to campus this week, she said she was surprised to see the incomplete Ernie Davis Hall appear so close to completion. McClafferty, a senior policy studies, religion and sociology major, said she was amazed by how much construction was done over break, especially with the Syracuse weather.
Campus gathers for peace in Gaza

A solitary candle stood at the front of Hendricks Chapel. Approximately 100 people gathered at 5:30 Tuesday evening for a candlelight vigil to show their support and sympathy for the people of Gaza. "We are here for those who died in Gaza," said Ahmed Al-Salem, president of the Muslim Student Association, to a crowd of students, faculty and community members.
