SAVING FACE…

Nancy Cantor, Syracuse University’s new chancellor, has allegedly followed the lead of thousands of SU students by signing up for an account on thefacebook.com on Nov. 22.

Facebook Cantor apparently loves Bruce Springsteen, Billy Joel and ‘light classic rock,’ enjoys the movies ‘Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory’ and ‘Lean on Me’ and takes interest in ‘exploring the Soul of Syracuse.’ She has 60 friends and is also a member of the Nancy G. Cantor Posse facebook group, which has 58 members.

The thing that stands out most on her profile page, though, is her wall.

‘Isn’t it ironic that I have a wall on the Syracuse University Campus and on Face book?’ Cantor allegedly wrote. ‘I find that to be inspiring!’

Ironic? We’re not so sure. It might just be coincidental. And we find it to be condescending.

THIS AND THAT…

While the Nancy G. Cantor Posse certainly has some street credibility, there are a number of other groups on the site that are just begging for attention. A number of these groups focus on the Top 25 (insert your own adjective) girls at SU. Few, however, actually have the full 25 as members. One particular group, in fact, has more males than girls … A house on a residential street of Ostrom Avenue threw a ‘Marty Gras’ party Friday night for one of its tenants, Marty, who will be graduating at the end of this semester … A local fraternity and sorority got together this weekend to throw an ‘OC’-inspired Chrismakuh party … This past week, a Walnut Avenue sorority stole its neighboring fraternity’s newest composite.
