Jennette McCurdy will headline University Union’s next Performing Arts show in Goldstein Auditorium on November 12 at 8 p.m. The conversation with McCurdy, best known for her role as Sam Puckett in “iCarly,” is free to attend.

McCurdy comes to Syracuse University just three months after the publication of her memoir “I’m Glad My Mom Died,” in which she describes in detail her path to fame. In her book, McCurdy discusses her reality as a child actor, including her experiences with eating disorders, addiction and, as the title suggests, a complex relationship with her mother.

“I’m Glad My Mom Died” produced a huge social media response and spent eight weeks atop the New York Times bestseller list.

The actress also wrote, directed and starred in her one-woman dark comedy show by the same name, which sold out every performance at the Lyric Hyperion Theater.

McCurdy recently signed a deal to write her first-ever fiction novel, and is currently working on writing and directing a feature film.

Tickets for the event are free for SU and SUNY ESF students. For the first time since the pandemic, UU invited community members not affiliated with SU to attend, also free of charge.

Doors will open at 7:15 p.m. The event will follow the Dome Bag Policy, which means no backpacks, professional cameras, drugs, alcohol or reentry will be allowed. Small clear bags will be permitted.
